What GridShield does

When a neighbourhood on one cable or transformer draws too much, the grid operator’s controller broadcasts a reduce signal over LoRa point-to-point. Every GridShield receiver behind it scales its chargers and heat pumps down. It is the last resort that keeps the network inside its limits when contracts and prices have not.

What EdgeTech supplies

  • A controller that measures the connection and sends the signal, or forwards the grid operator’s signal.
  • A receiver that limits EdgeTech and compatible chargers over Modbus and other loads over two relays, including SG-Ready heat pumps.
  • Interoperability tested against ElaadNL’s implementation in both directions.
  • Chargers and site controllers that respect contracted limits and congestion windows through the platform.
